Young, who had an influential career as a wrestler and trainer, and a second career, beginning in 1999 at age 76, as part of World Wrestling Entertainment, died Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported, noting her career in sports and entertainment spanned eight decades.
With WWE, her achievements included being "power-bombed" through a table by wrestler Bubba Ray Dudley, the newspaper added.
"There will never be another Mae Young," said Vince McMahon, WWE chairman, in a statement. "The entire WWE universe offers a standing ovation to a true queen of the canvas."
