NBA: Utah 118, Denver 103

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Alec Burks struck for a career-high 34 points Monday and the Utah Jazz used a second-quarter surge to speed past Denver 118-103.

Derrick Favors contributed 19 points and 15 rebounds for Utah, which broke open a close game with an 18-6 run before halftime and cruised to its fourth win in six games.

Trey Burke finished with 18 points and eight assists and Richard Jefferson helped out with 16 points.

The Nuggets got 23 points and 11 assists from Ty Lawson but had their five-game winning streak snapped.

J.J. Hickson notched a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.
