NHL: Pittsburgh 2, Calgary 1

Jan. 12, 2014 at 12:56 AM   |   Comments

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Fleury took a shutout into the third period Saturday and the Pittsburgh Penguins held on for a 2-1 victory over Calgary.

Fluery turned aside 27-of-28 shots, allowing just a Mikael Backlund goal with 8:31 remaining in the final period.

Chris Kunitz and Matt Niskanen scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Pens, who bounced back after Friday's overtime loss in Edmonton.

Backlund's goal snapped a 196-minute, 59-second home-ice scoring drought for the Flames, but wasn't enough to prevent their 11th loss in 13 games overall.

Reto Berra made 24 saves.
