NBA: Washington 102, New Orleans 96

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A 21-point, 10-rebound effort from Trevor Ariza Wednesday sent Washington to its sixth road win in seven tries -- a 102-96 triumph over New Orleans.

Washington took a 21-point lead into the fourth quarter and held on to defeat New Orleans for the fourth straight time.

Six Washington players reached double figures in scoring with John Wall producing 20 points and Bradley Beal adding 17. Marcin Gortat had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Wizards, who made 10-of-21 from long range.

New Orleans suffered its third straight loss despite 23 points from Eric Gordon and 21 from Anthony Davis.

Washington broke things open by scoring the first 12 points of the second period and outscored the Pelicans in that quarter 33-16.

The Wizards' only loss during their recent stretch of road success was a one-sided defeat at the hands of Minnesota Dec. 27.
