Crosby, who has racked up 63 points in 44 games this season, was one of 25 NHLers tabbed by Hockey Canada for the Sochi Olympics, Executive Director Steve Yzerman announced.
"With the depth of talent in Canada, these players should be very proud of their nomination today and excited about the opportunity that we all have to represent our country in Sochi in February," Yzerman said.
Along with the Penguins superstar, other forwards named to the team included Jamie Benn (Dallas), Patrice Bergeron (Boston), Jeff Carter (Los Angeles), Matt Duchene (Colorado), Ryan Getzlaf (Anaheim), Chris Kunitz (Pittsburgh), Patrick Marleau (San Jose), Rick Nash (N.Y. Rangers), Corey Perry (Anaheim), Patrick Sharp (Chicago), Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay), John Tavares (N.Y. Islanders) and Jonathan Toews (Chicago).
The defensive lineup was comprised of Jay Bouwmeester (St. Louis), Drew Doughty (Los Angeles), Dan Hamhuis (Vancouver), Duncan Keith (Chicago), Alex Pietrangelo (St. Louis), PK Subban (Montreal), Marc-douard Vlasic (San Jose) and Shea Weber (Nashville).
