BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The NHL game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres was postponed Tuesday due to weather conditions.

The NHL cited "hazardous weather conditions in the Buffalo area" for the postponement. No makeup date was announced.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for the Buffalo area until 6 a.m. EST Wednesday. Snowfall of 4-7 inches was predicted with steady winds of 20-30 mph expected to build drifts more than 2 feet deep, the NWS said.

Wind chills were expected to drop to 25 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.
