San-Antonio-Minnesota game from Mexico City rescheduled

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The game in Mexico between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves has been rescheduled for April 8 in Minneapolis.

The Spurs and Timberwolves were to have played Dec. 4 in Mexico City but a generator malfunction caused the Mexico City Arena to fill with smoke and that game had to be postponed.

The NBA on Monday said that, since the Timberwolves were the designated home team of the Mexico City game, the rescheduled contest would be in Minneapolis about a week before the 2013-14 regular-season ends.

The rescheduled date will split a three-day series of off days for the Spurs, who play at home against Memphis on April 6 and at home versus Dallas on April 10. The Timberwolves were to have a third consecutive off day on April 8 before playing the Chicago Bulls at home the next night.
