NHL: Edmonton 5, Tampa Bay 3

EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Boyd Gordon got the go-ahead goal in the third period and Jordan Eberle scored twice Sunday, elevating the Edmonton Oilers over Tampa Bay 5-3.

Gordon's score 8:20 into the final period broke a 3-3 tie for Edmonton, which had earlier blown a two-goal lead.

Taylor Hall and Luke Gazdic also scored and Ryan Smythe added a pair of assists as the Oilers snapped a four-game losing streak.

Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 24 shots for the win.

Victor Hedman, Nikita Kucherov and Valtteri Filppula each scored for the Lightning, who fell for the first time in six road games.

Starting goalie Ben Bishop left 4 minutes into the game with an upper body injury.

Anders Lindback entered and gave up three goals while facing 24 shots the rest of the way.
