CHENNAI, India, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- No. 1-seed Stanislas Wawrinka was on the court just more than an hour Friday in claiming a quarterfinal win at the Air Chennai Open tennis tournament in India.

Wawrinka defeated Aljaz Bedene 6-2, 6-1 with seven breaks in eight games receiving serve. He claimed 61 percent of the points off Bedene's serve, taking 16-of-22 of those points in the second set.

Wawrinka will take on fifth-seeded Vasek Pospisil in Saturday's semifinals. Pospisil posted a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Indian wild-card entrant Yuki Bhambri. Pospisil lost 11 points in his nine serving games and didn't face a break point.

The other semifinal has sixth-seeded Marcel Granollers meeting No. 7-seeded Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Granollers had two late breaks to force a third-set tiebreaker in beating fourth-seeded Benoit Paire 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

Roger-Vasselin was a 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 6-0 winner over Dudi Sela, breaking open the match by taking 70 percent of the third-set points.
