NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Adam Henrique had a goal and an assist Tuesday in helping the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Martin Brodeur stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced to collect the win as Pittsburgh lost for just the third time in 17 games. The Penguins ended December with an 11-3-0 record.

Henrique scored off a wrist shot past Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury just 1:38 into the game for his ninth goal of the season. Henrique and Brodeur were given assists on Michael Ryder's hard shot early in the second period that put the Devils ahead 2-0.

Matt Niskanen scored off a slap shot, with Sidney Crosby credited with his 37th assist on the play, 6:58 into the second period for the lone Pittsburgh goal.

New Jersey kept the pressure on Fleury throughout the game, piling up 24 shots in the first two periods.
