NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Drew Brees threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score Sunday, helping New Orleans clinch a playoff spot with a 42-17 rout of Tampa Bay.

Brees went 24-of-31 for 381 passing yards, connecting with Lance Moore, Jimmy Graham, Kenny Stills and Robert Meachem on scoring strikes.

The Saints (11-5) broke a two-game losing streak on their way to securing the NFC's sixth seed in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Buccaneers (4-12) ended the season with a third straight loss as rookie Mike Glennon was limited to 219 yards on 22-of-41 passing efficiency. He finished with two touchdowns and an interception.
