Dec. 27, 2013 at 10:36 PM   |   Comments

WASHINGTON, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Eric Fehr scored with 5:09 to go in the third period Friday, bringing Washington a 3-2 decision over the New York Rangers.

Fehr made up for having a goal overturned in the second period by putting a wrist shot past Cam Talbot. Washington had lost its previous two games and had dropped four out of six.

The Rangers never led, but twice overcame a one-goal deficit. Carl Hagelin scored 17 seconds into the third period to create a 2-2 tie.

Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green also scored for Washington and Philipp Grubauer stopped 38 shots to pick up the victory.

Talbot made 31 saves, but the Rangers had a two-game winning streak halted.
