IRVING, Texas, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Dallas quarterback Tony Romo missed another day of practice Thursday, although he has not been ruled out for Sunday's showdown with Philadelphia.

It was reported earlier this week that Romo would require surgery for a herniated disc and would miss the remainder of the season. Romo, however, received an epidural injection to relieve his back pain and the Cowboys are holding out hope he can play on Sunday.

The winner of the Dallas-Philadelphia game will win the NFC East title and the loser will miss the playoffs.

Backup quarterback Kyle Orton practiced with the first team Thursday. The Cowboys have signed 41-year-old Jon Kitna as an emergency backup quarterback for this weekend's game.
