Nets center Brook Lopez has broken foot, out indefinitely

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Brooklyn Nets center and leading scorer Brook Lopez has a broken bone in his right foot and will be out indefinitely, the team announced Saturday.

No timetable was given for his return, but the New York Daily News reported he will miss the rest of the season.

Lopez has sustained a fractured fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The same foot was operated on two years ago to replace a bent screw.

The 7-foot pivotman will meet with team physicians in the coming days to make a decision on his status for the rest of the season, the Nets said.

Lopez has paced Brooklyn with 20.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor.

The squad is 2-7 in games he has missed.
