NBA: Houston 114, Detroit 97

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Dwight Howard poured in 35 points and hauled down 19 rebounds Saturday, hoisting the Houston Rockets over Detroit 114-97.

Houston used Howard's big game to bounce back after a one-sided loss to Indiana Friday.

Chandler Parsons scored 20 points and Francisco Garcia added 16 as the Rockets overcame the injury absence of James Harden (sprained ankle).

Josh Smith scored 19 points and Greg Monroe had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Pistons, who have lost two straight games.
