Bears' LB Briggs looks ready to go against Eagles

CHICAGO, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears Pro-Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs expected to be on the field Sunday despite being officially listed as questionable, Coach Marc Trestman said.

Briggs was listed as questionable this weekend despite being given clearance by team doctors to return to duty nine weeks after fracturing his left shoulder.

"He's a fiery leader. He's a great leader. And he's excited to play football again," Trestman told reporters Friday.

The Chicago Tribune said Briggs would have his hands full if he indeed takes part in Sunday night's game against Philadelphia. The Eagles boast the NFL's leading rusher, LeSean McCoy, and hot quarterback Nick Foles. As a team, Philadelphia has topped 400 yards in offense 11 times in 14 games.

Briggs said he had been boning up on the Eagles this week despite the uncertainty over his own status. "They're great at what they do," he said. "They run like five run plays and a handful of offensive pass plays. They just do it very well."
