NHL: Chicago 3, Los Angeles 1

CHICAGO, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Antti Raanta made 22 saves Sunday and the Chicago Blackhawks rode three first-period goals to a 3-1 victory over Los Angeles in a Western Conference battle.

Raanta was sharp in net one night after being pulled against Toronto, when he allowed five goals over two periods.

Chicago grabbed a quick 3-0 lead on early scores by Marian Hossa, Kris Versteeg and Patrick Sharp. Jonathan Toews notched two assists.

The Blackhawks, who lead the West with 53 points, picked up their fourth win in five games.

The Kings, third in the West with 48 points, had their six-game winning streak snapped despite 37 saves from Ben Scrivens.

Alec Martinez scored for Los Angeles.
