NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Eric Gordon led a strong New Orleans shooting performance by making 10-of-12 from the field Friday, lifting the Pelicans to a 104-98 win over Memphis.

The Pelicans overcame a slow start to take a 17-point lead into the final period. Memphis came no closer than five points in the closing minutes. New Orleans shot 51 percent from the field and went 17-of-20 from the foul line.

Gordon finished with 25 points while Jrue Holiday added 20 points and 12 assists. New Orleans has won two in a row to move above the .500 mark for just the second time this season.

Memphis was led by 19 points off the bench from Jon Leuer.
