NHL: New York Islanders 3, San Jose 2 (SO)

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Kyle Okposo scored with 37 seconds left Tuesday, then tallied the game-winning shootout goal in the New York Islanders' 3-2 shocker over the San Jose Sharks.

Okposo scored the second of the Islanders' two third-period goals at 18:23 to force overtime and then scored New York's second shootout goal in the fourth round to break a 10-game losing streak.

Thomas Vanek also scored for the Islanders and Kevin Poulin turned in a career-high 46 saves.

Patrick Marleau had a goal and an assist for the Sharks. Joe Pavelski also scored and Antti Niemi had 26 saves.
