NHL: Los Angeles 3, New York Islanders 0

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Martin Jones stopped 16 shots Saturday for his first NHL shutout and the Los Angeles Kings stayed hot with a 3-0 triumph over the reeling New York Islanders.

Jones, making his second career appearance after logging a 3-2 shootout win over Anaheim Tuesday in his NHL debut, made his best stop in the second period on a point-blank shot by Thomas Vanek.

Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each scored and Tyler Toffoli added an empty-netter as the Kings improved to 10-1-4 in their last 15 games.

Kevin Poulin stopped 21-of-23 shots for the Islanders, who dropped a ninth straight.
