DENVER, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater set an NFL record with a 64-yard field goal in Sunday's game against Tennessee.

Prater's boot came on the final play of the first half, pulling Denver to within 21-20 at the break.

The kick, coming in cold conditions at Mile High Stadium, broke the mark of 63 yards shared by four others.

Tom Dempsey of New Orleans (1970), Broncos kicker Jason Elam (1998), Oakland's Sebastian Janikowski (2011) and David Akers of San Francisco (2012) were the former record-holders.

Before Sunday's feat, Prater's longest career field goal was 59 yards.
