KANSAS CITY, Kan., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Aurelien Collin scored in the 10th round of a shootout Saturday, lifting Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake for their second MLS Cup.

Salt Lake had missed its first two shootout tries, but then came roaring back to force a sudden-death situation in the third-ever MLS Cup Final shootout.

The tiebreaker was necessary after the two team ended regulation in a 1-1 tie.

Salt Lake's Alvaro Saborio opened the scoring in the 52nd minute after reeling in a pass from Kyle Beckerman and launching a volley past Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

Collin, however, notched the equalizer in the 76th minute, heading a Graham Zusi corner kick past RSL's Nick Rimando.
