The team made the announcement in a video posted on Facebook, saying Bryant will play when the Lakers take on the Toronto Raptors Sunday in Los Angeles.
Bryant, 34, who has played his entire 18-season NBA career with the Lakers, signed a two-year contract extension with the team Monday that will keep him in a Lakers uniform through the 2015-16 season.
The Lakers have won five NBA titles with Bryant on the team. He was named the league's Most Valuable Player in 2008 and has been selected to the NBA All-Star team 15 times.
In 1,239 NBA regular-season games, Bryant has averaged 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists a game. His total of 31,617 points scored is fourth-most in NBA history.
