NHL: Toronto 3, Dallas 2 (OT)

TORONTO, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Trevor Smith scored with 42 seconds to go in overtime Thursday, giving Toronto a 3-2 victory over Dallas.

The Stars forced the extra period when Shawn Horcoff deflected a shot that got the best of Jonathan Bernier with 2:46 left in regulation.

Smith then came through with his fourth of the season on a wrist shot, bringing an end to Toronto's five-game losing streak.

Nazem Kadri scored the other two Toronto goals, those coming in the second and third periods to give him nine for the season.

Bernier finished with 48 saves while Kari Lehtonen stopped 21-of-24 shots for Dallas. The Stars were coming off a road win over defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago.
