Dec. 4, 2013 at 1:41 AM

ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- It took nine shootout rounds, but the Los Angeles Kings prevailed over freeway rival Anaheim 3-2 Tuesday.

Dwight King went straight at Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller with a wrist shot to score the only goal of the shootout session and give Los Angeles its second consecutive win.

Rookie Martin Jones iced the victory by thwarting Mathieu Perreault in the Ducks' final shootout try. Jones finished with 26 saves and kept the Ducks at bay after Corey Perry's power-play goal early in the third period.

Dustin Brown and Jeff Carter scored in regulation for the Kings, who outshot Anaheim 51-28.

Perry also had an assist for the Ducks and Ryan Getzlaf scored by swatting a rebounding puck out of the air and into the net to tie the score 1-1 at 7:51 of the second period. Hiller was sharp overall with 49 saves.
