LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The Association of Surfing Professionals this week released the schedules for its 2014 men's and women's World Championship Tours.
The men's WCT opens March 12-19 in Australia with the Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast and ends Dec. 8-20 on Hawaii's famed North Shore with the Billabong Pipeline Masters.
In between, the tour will visit Fiji, Bali and Europe. The only mainland U.S. event will be the Hurley Pro at Trestles held Sept. 9-20 in Orange County, Calif.
The women's WCT also begins in Australia and includes nine events with stops at Trestles and the big Vans U.S. Open at Huntington Beach, Calif.
The ASP said in a written statement the WCT was being brought under the complete jurisdiction of the ASP, including television and online broadcasting.
"Our foundational media platform with Google YouTube, Facebook/Instagram and ESPN is in place and we'll be announcing our respective international linear broadcast partners in the coming weeks," said Chief Executive Officer Paul Speaker.
