NHL: Boston 3, New York Rangers 2

BOSTON, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Zdeno Chara produced the tiebreaking goal with a slap shot midway through the third period Friday, lifting Boston to a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.

The Bruins maintained their lead in the Atlantic Division by overcoming a one-goal deficit to begin the final period.

Patrice Bergeron tied the game 1:35 into the closing stanza and Chara got the best of goalie Henrik Lundqvist with 8:55 to go.

Tuukka Rask had to make just 17 saves to get the win. Boston's 36 points are the most in the Eastern Conference.

Ryan McDonagh and Rick Nash scored for New York, which had won three of its previous four contests. Lundqvist stopped 25 shots.
