NHL: Colorado 5, Chicago 1

DENVER, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Paul Stastny scored a goal and an assist Tuesday in the Colorado Avalanche's 5-1 victory over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.

Stastny, who took only one shot in the game, opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first period and then helped set up PA Parenteau's second-period goal that padded Colorado's lead to 4-0.

John Mitchell, Cody McLeod and Gabriel Landeskog also scored for the Avalanche, who ended a three-game losing streak. Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves, including 17 in the first period.

Brandon Saad finally beat Varlamov at 12:10 of the third period on a backhand goal off assists from Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith.

Corey Crawford started in goal for Chicago but hit the showers after allowing three goals on seven shots in the first period. Finnish rookie Antti Raanta notched 14 saves the rest of the way in his NHL debut.
