Chicago Bears game resumes after delay

CHICAGO, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears football fans were evacuated from the Soldier Field stands and the game against Baltimore delayed by severe weather Sunday.

Strong winds, heavy rain and lightning rolled through downtown Chicago shortly after the noon kickoff of the Bears-Ravens game, and fans were warned via public address an evacuation may be necessary, WBBM-TV, Chicago, reported.

The call for fans to leave the stands came at 12:54 p.m. CST, triggering an exodus that was hampered by clogged aisles in the stadium's upper deck, the broadcaster reported.

The deck was finally cleared about 30 minutes later as the Ravens held a 10-0 lead with about 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

The game was resumed after a 1-hour, 53-minute delay.
