ST. LOUIS, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Alexander Steen had two goals to take over the NHL scoring lead Thursday and St. Louis rolled to a 7-3 victory over Colorado.

The Blues used a four-goal second period to win at home for the eighth time in 11 tries this season. Colorado had lost just twice in its first 16 contests, but has now dropped two in a row.

Steen began the night with 14 goals, tied for the league lead with Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos, who is out indefinitely with a broken leg.

Steen's first goal came on a slap shot 7:16 into the second period and gave the Blues a 3-1 lead. He scored again 2:11 into the third. Derek Roy opened the scoring for St. Louis with one of the Blues' three power-play goals.

Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves in the victory. St. Louis drove Jean-Sebastien Giguere from the net by scoring five times on 23 shots. Semyon Varlamov came in to surrender two more goals on six shots.
