DALLAS, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki and Minta Ellis both scored 19 points Tuesday to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 105-95 win over the Washington Wizards.

Nowitzki passed Jerry West for 15th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list and ended the night 82 points short of Reggie Miller's career total of 25,279 points.

Vince Carter came off the Dallas bench and scored 16 points. Samuel Dalembert added 15.

Trevor Ariza scored 27 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Wizards, who led 34-33 after the first quarter but were outscored 28-15 in the second period.

Washington cut the Dallas lead to 78-74 in the third quarter but Nowitzki hit consecutive 3-pointers to fend off the challenge.
