PITTSBURGH, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Sunday denied a report the team will consider entertaining trade offers for him in the off-season.

NFL Network reported Sunday that Roethlisberger is unhappy with the struggling team's situation and could ask for a trade.

Citing unnamed team sources, the broadcaster reported the Steelers expect Roethlisberger to ask them to explore a possible trade after this season.

The network said he is "incredibly frustrated" with the direction of the franchise, which has slipped to a 3-6 record and is in last place in the AFC North.

But Steelers President Art Rooney II issued a statement denying the report.

"Contrary to erroneous reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have not explored trading quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and have no plans to do so," he said.

The signal-caller himself also attempted to quash the conjecture after leading Pittsburgh to a 23-10 win over Buffalo, calling the report "completely unacceptable" and "one of the most B.S. stories I ever heard," CBS Sports reported.

Ryan Tollner, Roethlisberger's agent also weighed in, saying, "This is completely wrong and inaccurate. Ben has always said he wants to play his entire career for the Steelers, and his roots are set firmly in Pittsburgh."

The NFL Network said team has fielded trade requests for the 10-year veteran in the past but has turned them down, and still has no intention of trading him unless it can replace him with someone of equal stature.

Prior to Sunday's game, Roethlisberger had racked up 32,174 passing yards with 203 TDs and 117 pick-offs in his career with Pittsburgh.
