AVONDALE, Ariz., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Defending champ Kevin Harvick repeated at Phoenix International Raceway Sunday and Jimmie Johnson widened his Sprint Cup lead with a third-place finish.

Harvick, who also won last year's Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship event in Phoenix, grabbed the lead of the AdvoCare 500 when Carl Edwards ran out of fuel on the second-to-last lap and went on to beat Kasey Kahne by 1.8 seconds for his fourth win this season.

It was Harvick's second victory in the Chase after also taking the Oct. 6 race at Kansas.

Johnson, who came into Sunday's event with a seven-point Chase lead over Matt Kenseth, extended it to 28 as he vies for his sixth Sprint Cup Series championship.

Kenseth ended in 23rd place Sunday.

Johnson will wrap up the title if he finishes 23rd or better in next weekend's season-ending event at Homestead, Fla.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. claimed fourth place, followed by Kurt Busch.
