MLS: Sporting KC 0, Houston 0 (tie)

HOUSTON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Will Bruin's scoring try late in the first half just missed and Houston settled for a scoreless tie with Sporting Kansas City in MLS playoff action Saturday.

Bruin, in the game's best scoring chance, unleashed a shot after running down the field, but his volley from 40 yards out nicked the crossbar and went clear of the net.

Defender Aurelien Collin had the best chance for SKC in the 65th minute, but his header off a off a corner kick went over the crossbar.

The scoreless draw in the first leg of the total-goals Eastern Conference finals sent the series to Kansas City for the Nov. 23 second leg in a 0-0 deadlock.
