Denver Coach John Fox released from hospital

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- The Denver Broncos Friday announced Coach John Fox, who had a heart valve replaced a week ago, has been released from the hospital.

The surgery took place in North Carolina after Fox was hospitalized on Nov. 1. He complained of being lightheaded during a golf outing and was advised to have the surgery as soon as possible.

"I am truly thankful for every single thought and prayer that was directed my way," Fox said in a statement released by the Broncos.

"My recovery is progressing well -- I am feeling better and getting stronger each day. I will begin the next phase of my recovery in Charlotte and continue outpatient appointments with doctors, who will clear me to return to Denver when the time is right."

Denver will play its first game without Fox on Sunday at San Diego. Jack Del Rio will serve as interim head coach while Fox recovers.
