ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Rookie quarterback EJ Manuel has recovered from a knee ligament sprain and is expected to start for the Buffalo Bills this week.

Manuel has missed four games since suffering a sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. However, he returned the practice Wednesday and will start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bills Coach Doug Marrone said Thursday.

"I definitely feel like I can go and it's still up to Coach Marrone as far as what we want to do as a team," Manuel said Wednesday on the team's website. "But I definitely feel confident going into Sunday."

Manual was the 16th overall selection in last spring's draft and started the first five games of the season for Buffalo before the knee injury. He completed 85-of-150 passed for 985 yards and five touchdowns.

Thad Lewis, a second-year pro, filled in for three games before he was injured. Jeff Tuel, like Manuel a rookie, started Sunday at quarterback against the Kansas City Chiefs. Lewis is expected to serve as backup for Manuel this week.
