MLS: Portland 5, Chivas USA 0

CARSON, Calif., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Diego Valeria netted a pair of goals and added an assist Saturday, boosting Portland a 5-0 rout of Chivas USA and the Western Conference regular-season title.

Valeri scored in the 16th and 29th minutes for a 2-0 Timbers lead.

Rodney Wallace, Ryan Johnson and Will Johnson also tallied as Portland (14-5-15) bypassed Real Salt Lake for the conference title.

The Timbers extended their unbeaten streak to eight games and will hold top seed in the West when the MLS playoffs begin next weekend.

Chivas USA (6-20-8) became the 15th club in league history to lose 20 games in a season.
