Guthrie maintains European Tour lead in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Luke Guthrie used a 1-under-par 71 Friday to push his lead to four strokes at the European Tour's BMW Masters in Shanghai.

Windy conditions made consistent play tough at the Lake Malaren Golf Club as indicated by Guthrie's round of five birdies and four bogeys. He's at 8-under 136 for the tournament.

John Daly, who has in second after a 68 Thursday, was 2-over 74 Friday and dropped to a tie for ninth while Peter Uihlein, who started the day in third, had a 75 and is tied for 19th, eight strokes behind Guthrie.

Guthrie opened the second round with a birdie at the first hole and had his first bogey of the tournament at the fifth hole. A birdie at 7 allowed him to make the turn at 1-under.
