VAIL, Conn., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- American downhill skier Lindsey Vonn said she has not yet recovered from injuries and will miss the World Cup's first event this weekend in Austria.

Vonn, 29, had her right knee reconstructed after injuring it in February, but after testing it in practice runs said she will not take part in the Soelden, Austria, event, CNN said Thursday.

"My training camp in Soelden went very well and I made great progress, but I feel that I need more training before I start racing again," she reported on her website from her home in Vail, Colo. "The Soelden race is not in the cards this year."

Vonn was the first American woman to win the Olympic downhill title, at Vancouver in 2010.
