BOSTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Infielder Allen Craig was added to the St. Louis Cardinals' roster Wednesday ahead of the start of the World Series.

Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny finalized his 25-man roster by adding Craig and leaving outfielder Adron Chambers off the list of players available. Craig, who usually plays first base, had been out with a foot injury after hitting .315 with 13 home runs and 97 runs batted in in 134 games in the regular season.

Matheny entered a roster of 12 pitchers and 13 position players for the World Series, scheduled to begin Wednesday in Boston. The Cardinals will have one more pitcher on the roster than the Red Sox.

Adam Wainwright was selected to start Game 1. The other St. Louis pitchers are John Axford, Randy Choate, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Seth Maness, Carlos Martinez, Shelby Miller, Edward Mujica, Trevor Rosenthal, Kevin Siegrist and Michael Wacha.

The roster includes catchers Yadier Molina and Tony Cruz. The infielders, in addition to Craig, are Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, Daniel Descalso, David Freese, Pete Kozma and Kolten Wong. The outfielders are Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday, Jon Jay and Shane Robinson.

St. Louis finished the regular season with a National League-best 97-65 record. The Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 in the NL Division Series and then eliminated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in the NL Championship Series.
