NHL: Calgary 3, New Jersey 2

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- A goal by Sean Monahan with 2:43 to play in regulation Friday brought Calgary a 3-2 victory over New Jersey.

The Devils remained winless in its five games this season, although three of their losses have come in overtime. Buffalo is the only other team in the NHL without a victory.

New Jersey owned a 2-1 lead when Mark Giordano scored on the power play with only 19 seconds to play in the middle period.

Monahan scored the game-winner by tipping in a shot by Sven Baertschi. Calgary has not suffered a regulation loss this year, having lost twice in overtime.

Joey MacDonald made 19 saves to pick up the win. Martin Brodeur stopped 26-of-29 shots in defeat and in the early going this season has yet to add to his NHL career record 669 victories.
