Police investigate alleged assault by Deion Sanders at prep school

DALLAS, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- A charter school employee in Dallas claims he was assaulted by former football star Deion Sanders during an administrative meeting at the school.

Sanders, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame and co-founder of the Prime Prep Academy, was in a meeting Wednesday in a school classroom with teachers and administrators when he became upset after learning some student athletes were not doing well academically, said Kevin Jefferson, the alleged victim.

"He was a little upset and a little emotional," said Jefferson, who attended the meeting.

A police report said Jefferson told Sanders not to talk to him in that emotional manner.

Jefferson claims Sanders followed him to a desk in which he was seated, and after Jefferson stood up "he (Sanders) just grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground. Some people had to get him off me."

Jefferson visited a hospital after the incident, and spoke with police afterwards, The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday, Police are investigating and have not released information or made any arrests.
