SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski scored on a header midway through the second half Wednesday, moving San Jose closer to a playoff berth with a 1-0 victory over Colorado.

Shea Salinas sent a crossing pass off a corner kick into the middle of the box and Wondolowski rose to put the ball past goalkeeper Clinton Irwin.

The Earthquakes have won three in a row and four out of five to move within four points of Colorado and Los Angeles for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Colorado has lost two out of three and was blanked for the seventh time this season.
