NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Chicago 2 (SO)

CHICAGO, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Valtteri Filppula scored during a shootout and Ben Bishop made two stops in the tiebreaker Saturday, sending the Tampa Bay Lightning over Chicago 3-2.

Filppula netted his goal in the first round, putting forehand past Chicago's Corey Crawford.

Bishop, who recorded 37 stops in regulation and overtime, then followed up with saves on Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa to secure the Bolts' first victory this season.

Tampa Bay forced the overtime when Martin St. Louis and Teddy Purcell scored less than 2 minutes apart in the third period.

Crawford finished with 14 saves for the Blackhawks, who fell to 1-1-0 on the season.

Kane and Brandon Saad each scored in regulation for Chicago.
