SAN DIEGO, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The San Diego Padres said third baseman Chase Headley was expected to be ready for spring training after undergoing knee surgery Tuesday.
Headley underwent an arthroscopic procedure to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee and would need 4-6 weeks to recover.

Headley, 29, had a banner season in 2012 when he won a Gold Glove and hit 31 home runs. But his ailing knee and a broken thumb early in the season limited him to 15 homers and a .250 batting average.
Next season will be Headley's final arbitration-eligible season.
