PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Dave Bolland broke a tie early in the third period with the first of his two goals Wednesday, lifting Toronto to a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia.

The Maple Leafs were the only team in the NHL to play on both the first two nights of the season and they won both contests. Toronto produced a 4-3 victory over Montreal on the opening night of the campaign.

Brayden Schenn scored a power-play goal for the Flyers with seven seconds to go in the first period and Jonathan Bernier shut out Philadelphia the rest of the way while making 29 saves.

Phil Kessel tied it late in the second period and Bolland put Toronto in front 2:30 into the third by beating Steve Mason with a wrist shot.

Bolland added a power-play goal in the final minute.

Mason, starting his second season with Philadelphia after spending the first four years of his career with Columbus, stopped 22-of-25 shots.
