Sept. 30, 2013 at 1:36 PM

BOSTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Patriots' defensive tackle Vince Wilfork could be out for the season after he limped off the field during the game against the Atlanta Falcons, reports say.

The Patriots announced during the game Wilfork, 31, had an ankle injury, but a league official said the team captain tore his right Achilles tendon, the Boston Globe reported Monday.

It is unknown if the team will made a trade to fill in while Wilfork is out.
