BANGKOK, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Milos Raonic topped Tomas Berdych 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 Sunday and won the title at the Thailand Open tennis tournament.

Raonic pounded out 18 aces and allowed Berdych, the tournament's top seed, just one break chance. Raonic dropped only 12 points in 11 serving games.

Berdych was nearly as sharp -- losing 12 points in 10 games -- but he lost the tiebreaker in the first set and Raonic's second-set break allowed him to claim the championship.

Raonic knocked off defending champion and No. 2-seed Richard Gasquet, who is ninth in the world rankings, in the semifinals and Berdych, No. 6 in the world, on consecutive days to improve to 3-6 on the year against Top 10 players.

It was the fifth tournament title overall for Raonic. Three of those championships have come at San Jose, Calif., where Raonic won in February. Berdych slipped to 8-11 in finals, with an 0-3 title-match mark in 2013.

Raonic won $102,450 along with the championship. He has a career total of more than $3.2 million. Berdych, with a second-place check for $54,000, pushes his career mark to $15.2 million.
