MLB: New York Yankees 4, Houston 1 (14 innings)

Sept. 29, 2013 at 7:30 PM

HOUSTON, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Mark Reynolds slugged a solo homer to ignite a four-run 14th inning Sunday that gave the New York Yankees a season-ending 5-1 win over Houston.

Eduardo Nunez contributed to the outburst with a two-run double, securing a victory for Matt Daley (1-0) as New York wrapped up an 85-77 season -- its worst record in a full season since 1992.

The Yanks, who completed a three-game sweep of the Astros, missed the American League playoffs for only the second time in the last 19 years.

Lucas Harrell (6-17) took the loss for Houston (51-111), which fell to the worst record in franchise history after finishing the campaign with a club-record 15th consecutive defeat.
