Defending champ Kirk Triplett retains First Tee Open crown

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Defending champion Kirk Triplett won his second consecutive First Tee Open title Sunday with final-round 4-under-par 68.

It was also the second career Champions Tour title for Triplett, who finished at 11-under- par 205, two shots ahead of a pair of competitors.

Dan Forsman and Doug Garwood shared second place at 9-under 207 with identical 3-under 69s at Pebble Beach.

Second-round leader Tom Lehman slipped to fourth place one shot further back with a 2-over 74.

Holding fifth at minus-7 was Russ Cochran (74). Willie Wood (69) and John Cook (72) ended knotted in sixth place at 6-under.
